Creating and Finding Users 00:00:00 Speaker: Hi. Welcome to today's training on creating and finding users in genius. Today you'll learn to understand the roles in genius and what they mean, how to create a user account, and how to find that user account in genius. There's various roles in genius, and each of them allow you to do different things. Institutional Adminds have the highest role level. They can create students and users, enroll in courses, and have highest permission levels across the board. Advisors can see and enroll students in their courses, and can generally see most things that institutional admins can, but they cannot create users or student accounts. Advisor Read-Only accounts can see students, but they cannot enroll them in courses. These accounts are meant to monitor student progress, but are not meant to create or make changes. Finally, Advisor Specific Students can only interact with students assigned to them. If a student is assigned to an Advisor Specific Student, they can enroll them in courses and monitor their progress, but they cannot see all of the students within the affiliation. Let's get started with creating a user in genius. To begin, you'll navigate to genius and get logged in. From there, navigate to your affiliations tab. Select your affiliation. And click Add Users on the left hand side under Main Information. Anything highlighted in yellow is a required field for you to create the user account. You'll create a username. And then you'll select the role. You can use the slides from earlier in today's training as a refresher on what these roles mean. For today's purposes, we'll create an institution admin account. Once you've ensured that you filled out everything properly, click create. If the user account was successfully created, you'll get this green check mark at the bottom. That's how you create a user account in genius. You may at times need to find a user in genius. To find a user in genius, navigate to the administration tab, go to users and Access and click Find Users. From there, you can filter users by the role. And click Get Data. From here we can see all of the users in the demo account. You will only see users for your affiliation. You can also search for users by name, email, login information or phone number.
