Overview
This tip sheet provides step-by-step instructions for enrolling students into courses in Genius. Use this resource as a guide when enrolling individual students or managing course enrollments within your school or program.
Before enrolling students, ensure that each student has been created in Genius and assigned an advisor. This tip sheet will walk you through the enrollment process and help ensure students are successfully placed into their selected courses.
Instructions
- Start on the students “Main Page”.
- Under “Actions” on the left navigation menu, select “Enroll in Section”.
- Complete the enrollment form
- Select Enroll
Note: Make sure you receive a green check mark confirming the enrollment was successful. If you do not receive this check mark, please report the error to CAOLA Support.

| Select a School | CAIU |
| Select the Term | Keep this accurate to the current SY for billing purposes. |
| Vendor | Select the vendor – Accelerate, Harris, etc. |
| Course | Find and select the appropriate course. Make sure to double check the course type (Foundations, Honors). |
| Teacher | If using a vendor teacher, this will auto-populate. If you are using a local teacher, select their name from the drop-down. |
| Start Date |
Select the date you want the student to begin accessing the course.
Double check this as it cannot be changed later.
NOTE: This is the date that the grace-drop period will begin.

| End Date | This will auto-populate based on the course length. Change this to the last day you want the student to be able to complete work in the course. |
| Diagnostic, Progress, and End of Course Test |
These options are for Harris Digital Learning courses only.
Diagnostic – a placement test at the start of the course. Progress Test – a progress test in the middle of the course. End of Course Test – a cumulative exam at the end of the course. |
| Blended Learning | Unless you are using a local teacher with a license, leave this blank. |
